Lush cedar forests shadowing serpentine lanes as the hilly landscape unfolds in the cradle of the craggy west Himalayas. Mashobra is a typical hill station with all the scenery and fresh air and none of the throng of city-life that is more commonplace to Shimla. Try a trek to Shali Peak, the highest in the region, where the magnificent views override the discomfort of protesting muscles! For a crash course in local flavour, join in the chaos at the annual fair in Sipur (April), and watch the kaleidoscope of colours unfold as the bright costumes rival the hues of the myriad spring flowers.
